Kepa is someone infinitely whole even though some of his bones have broken more than once. The former pro skater he was gave as much on his board as he gives today on the stages of his enchanting cinema concerts. The falls now are only beautiful endings of chords from his guitar, which is not only his beloved instrument but truly an extension of himself. Picking is his language, and it is such that Kepa has decided to no longer use his vocal cords but simply the percussive magic of the vital strings of his guitar. Because this is about life, quest, mission, the one we set for ourselves to better find the other, this ongoing search to relieve the soul, to go against the grain, against the current of the world but never against the wind, to find the breath, to seek the sap, not to forget that we float on a planet and that mystical forces are much greater and much more present than we think. It is often easier to bury one's head in the sand or to follow mad fools from Austria, or elsewhere, than to try to become one with the world. His superb EP Hotline service released at the end of 2025 enchanted us and offered the spiritual escape of wide open spaces. Kepa, a kindred spirit of the Hermanos Guterriez, is ultimately a sort of pagan reverend who leads us through a sweet and warm picking rodeo in an inner road movie that cleanses the soul. To say that Kepa is inhabited is an understatement; he is a reflection of his music, and he makes the two arts coexist, never thinking of one without the other, music is image, image is music, and this takes on its dimension both on record and on stage. He composes, he plays, he directs, he mixes, he clips, he films, he edits, he disassembles, he reassembles, he demonstrates without ever being demonstrative, he invites, he invites us, to go, slower, further, higher.
