Dan Snaith (Caribou)'s protégés' new album. Canadian synth-pop duo Junior Boys finally release their sixth album, "Waiting Game," six years after the acclaimed "Big Black Coat" (2016). Jeremy Greenspan and Matt Didemus deliver a contemplative full-length; a real change from their hard-hitting dance melodies infused with R&B. Here, we find ourselves between ambient and electronic pop, with layers that transport and uplift you. Since 2016, Greenspan has notably co-produced and mixed two albums for Jessy Lanza and done remixes and production for the Canadian scene. "Waiting Game" revolves around the feeling of waiting for something, of chance mixed with hard work, with an almost experimental patchwork writing style. In the end, Junior Boys has never sounded so light and free. "Waiting Game" is intended to give its listener a little respite. Greenspan states upfront: "I like the idea of people putting it on at home and exhaling with relief, even if that relief is tinged with a certain sadness."
