Return of Julien Gasc in 'solo', co-founder of the group Aquaserge, stage keyboardist for Stereolab and regular collaborator with many musicians, such as Laetitia Sadier, Eddy Crampes, Laure Briad, or Forever Pavot..With this 5th album under his name, he has surrounded himself with Anton Newcombe (Brian Jonestown Massacre), Tim Gane (Stereolab) and Léo Blomov among others.'Perles, coraux & requins' is an album This album marks the return of an artist who walks a tightrope, capable of making pop, an avant-pop sung in French, which is rare enough to be highlighted!This album was recorded by Anton Newcombe in his Berlin studio over three sessions between June 2023 and July 2024.After answering the call of the forest and that of his "mountain ancestors", Julien Gasc puts on a mask and snorkel for a subaquatic expedition, a romantic introspection. The storm rages, but at the bottom of the ocean, he has found tranquility."A protection in the midst of chaos," a haven of peace where he sings of love. His melodies, influenced by the heroes João Gilberto and Chico Buarque, follow harmonic paths traced in his head. With this album placed under the sign of Aquarius and Venus, he feels his body floating and alive, but also that of others, when he puts himself in the skin of a woman "trampled and humiliated by her husband," (in Plongeon de haut vol).It is by rubbing shoulders with the abyss that the member of the supergroup Aquaserge manages to connect to his own being, even his malaise: "I found the blue pearl that adorns the cover in a gutter by chance during a stroll. This plastic jewel symbolizes for me the Blues that one sometimes feels, notably during the genesis of this record. The pearl is the image of the mother, of mother earth."Guest musician for Stereolab tours, for which he does solo opening acts, Julien Gasc was recently "targeted" by Anton Newcombe, his "model at the time of Dig!". Gasc played the entirety of Re Eff, opening for the group of Lætitia Sadier and Tim Gane (present on this record), dressed in white, from shoes to beret, alone on the stage of the Berlin venue Huxleys, accompanied by his laptop. "At the end of the show, Anton comes to see me, comparing me to Brel or Piaf."The boss of The Brian Jonestown Massacre then offered him to record his next opus in his studio. Three sessions, between June 2023 and July 2024, will be necessary, even if everything is already laid down during the first Berlin sequence.
