UNKNOWN PLEASURES

Description

On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of "Love Will Tear Us Apart" on June 27, Rhino is pleased to announce the reissues of four essential Joy Division albums on 180-gram vinyl. UNKNOWN PLEASURES (1979) and CLOSER (1980) will be available on June 29! Joy Division recorded two albums before the tragic suicide of singer Ian Curtis in 1980. The band's only two albums were revolutionary and helped shape the sound and atmosphere of alternative music. FOCUS Each reissue reproduces the design of the original vinyls with great attention to detail. Their content was remastered in 2007 during the album reissue campaign. Ian Curtis (guitar/vocals), Bernard Sumner (keyboards), Peter Hook (bass) and Stephen Morris (drums) released their first album Unknown Pleasures in 1979. The album's atmospheric sounds captivated fans and critics alike with tracks such as "She's Lost Control" and "Day of the Lords." Closer, the band's second album, released the following year with its dark and melancholic tones, also earned rave reviews with tracks like "Isolation" and "Heart and Soul." "Unknown Pleasures", Joy Division's first album, will celebrate its 40th anniversary on June 15, 2009. To mark the occasion, the album is being reissued on colored vinyl.
