Jonas Kaufmann is accompanied by the Orchestra e Coro Accademia Nazionale Di Santa Cecilia, conducted by Antonio Pappano, Federica Lombardi in the role of Desdemona and Carlos Alvarez in the role of Jago. This collector’s edition includes a 232-page booklet with the complete libretto in French, Italian, English and German. Jonas Kaufmann is now THE Otello of this generation. This complete recording of the opera Otello, Verdi’s greatest tenor role, was made under optimal conditions. This project is the culmination of Jonas Kaufmann’s journey to become one of the key interpreters of this legendary role. It was while performing the supporting role of Cassio in the Chicago Lyric Opera production of Otello in 2001 that Kaufmann became fascinated by the title role, later leading him to record two Otello arias on his 2013 Verdi album.
