Description
The main recording session for this album, originally released in 1960, took place on May 4 and 5, 1959, two weeks after Coltrane participated in the final session of Kind of Blue. The track "Naima" was recorded on December 2 with Coltrane's musicians and the rhythm section of the Miles Davis Quintet, which would support him for most of his next album, Coltrane Jazz.
