Truth, Liberty & Soul - Live in NYC: The Complete 1982 NPR Jazz Alive! Recording is a superb album bringing together for the first time the entirety of this concert recorded at Avery Fisher Hall in New York City on June 27, 1982 during the George Wein's Kool Jazz Festival. The iconic American bassist Jaco Pastorius (1964/1987) leads an ensemble of 22 musicians including the cream of New York at the time, notably drummer Peter Erskine, saxophonist Bob Mintzer, trumpeter Randy Brecker, Jon Faddis, Frank Wess, Lew Soloff, Howard Johnson, as well as the legendary Belgian harmonica player Toots Thielemans. This recording, taken from the original tapes, meticulously restored and mastered by Paul Blakemore (the era's sound engineer awarded numerous Grammy Awards) offers 40 minutes of completely unreleased material, never broadcast by NPR on its Jazz Alive! program. Also included with the double CD is a 100-page booklet with rare photos, commentary, and interviews.
