Jaco Pastorius was recognized for his talent as an electric bassist. He died in 1987 at the age of 35, following an assault in a bar in Fort Lauderdale. This eponymous album, his first solo album, was originally released in 1976. The bass parts are excellent and testify to his immense talent. His virtuosic solos, exploring different musical directions, make this album a remarkable debut. The fact that he was only 24 years old at the time of recording makes it all the more impressive. American jazz bassist Jaco Pastorius recorded several albums with the influential group Weather Report, as well as several solo albums. He is considered one of the greatest electric bassists of all time. His first solo album is part of the Groove Classics collection.
