J Mascis, the iconic figure of the American indie-pop scene for over 30 years, is releasing a new solo album! J Mascis, known as the leader and frontman with the cavernous voice of the mythical indie band Dinosaur Jr., is releasing his fourth solo album: 10 tracks recorded at Bisquiteen studio, following in the worthy tradition of his previous albums. He plays most of the instruments himself, and is joined by Mark Mulcahy (Miracle Legion), Pall Jenkins (Black Heart Procession), and Zoë Randell (Luluc).
Elastic Days is full of great moments: epic hooks that subtly trap you, slide guitar sounds that embrace like old lovers, and instrumental and vocal structures with strong pop ballad potential. There are also tracks with more jazz and post-psychedelic influences like 'Give It Off', and finally, there are tracks with plenty of keyboards reminiscent of Scott Thurston's time with the Stooges (the track 'Drop Me'). The album plays on the combination of holism and variety, which will certainly resonate with many people.
