LEVANTINE SYMPHONY N°1 is a symphonic piece that is at once classical, jazz, and modern, drawing inspiration from all world music. This album aims to bring together the musical cultures of the Levant and unite them under a single anthem. The Levant is a relatively unknown, yet often romanticized, part of the world. This musical creation was composed in collaboration with the New Levant Initiative, an American organization that supports cultural and economic understanding and development in the Levant. Ibrahim Maalouf, composer and musical director of this project, involves his historic band, a symphony orchestra, a children's choir, and an ensemble of five microtonal trumpets. The album brings together diverse inspirations and aims to be unifying. Ibrahim Maalouf took on the challenge of moving beyond the cliché of community unions by seeking musical, rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic elements that unite this rich, eclectic ensemble. Through the superposition of varied elements, the Levant is thus represented under a single voice and a single melody.
