Ibrahim unveils his 16th studio album “Trumpets of Michel-Ange”
"Trumpets of Michel-Ange" is much more than just a new album: it is the cornerstone of a vast educational project that ultimately aims to make the atypical instrument he has always played, and which was invented by his father over half a century ago, accessible to everyone: the quarter-tone trumpet.
“Symbolically, this album celebrates intergenerational transmission, but also love, family, and all those universal values that are being lost in our time,” Ibrahim explains. “Concretely, it is also an opportunity for me to fulfill my father’s dream of sharing his brilliant invention with the whole world through unifying, festive, and emotional compositions.”
For this 16th album, Ibrahim chose to collaborate exclusively with instrumentalists: from New Orleans star Trombone Shorty, to jazz double bassist Endea Owens (Detroit), as well as his friends Toumani Diabaté, Sidiki Diabaté, Matthieu Chedid, and Golshifeth Farahani.
