Released in 2003 when Ibrahim Ferrer was 76 years old, *Buenos Hermanos* today sounds more than ever like a classic – “the supreme Latin American record” as Ry Cooder described it at the time. “I don't think anyone other than Ibrahim could have made a record like this. The album boasted the same production team as the *Buena Vista Social Club* album and his 1999 solo debut *Buena Vista Social Club presents Ibrahim Ferrer*: surrounded by Cooder, Nick Gold, and Jerry Boys, Ferrer confirmed his place among the greatest voices Cuban music has ever known. Combining both Cuban and American musicians, the carefully selected group includes Orlando 'Cachaíto' López on double bass, Manuel Galbán on electric guitar, piano, and organ, Chucho Valdés on piano, and Miguel 'Angá' Díaz on congas, with the addition of Ry Cooder on guitars, veteran rocker Jim Keltner on drums, and Joachim Cooder on percussion.
