Hoorsees - Vinyle Blanc

Description

THE PARISIAN QUARTET'S DEBUT ALBUM IMMERSES US IN 90S INDIE ROCK The Spacemen 3 had their "Taking Drugs to Make Music to Take Drugs to." Hoorsees' upcoming debut album could very well have been titled "Being Sad to Make Music to Be Sad to." During these more-than-uncertain times, when we spend more time moping at home than doing anything remotely productive, the Parisian quartet seems like a safe bet. Especially if what makes your ears tingle with delight is indie, emo-leaning rock that evokes the late 90s. Recorded in mid-fi, this self-titled debut album by Hoorsees fulfills all the promises hinted at by "Major League of Pain," their previous EP. Perfectly blending the rickety charm of a good Pavement record with the post-adolescent sensibility of (Sandy) Alex G, with guitars soaked in rain and tears that craft melodies more effective than a Konami Code, these nine tracks encapsulate all the struggles we'll eventually miss once we've crossed the threshold into the adult world. With his resonant and penetrating voice, Alexin sincerely sings about his ways of escaping nervous breakdowns ("Videogames," "Overdry"), reveals his leitmotif ("Get Tired"), and immerses us in a bittersweet daily life shaped by love, boredom, and gloom ("Instant Tea," "Major League"). In short, twenty years late, Hoorsees may have created the best soundtrack for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2.
