'The Portable Herman Dune' Vol. 2 is the second part of an acoustic anthology, in which 22 years of songwriting are laid bare to the most intimate bone. Though sonically naked, the songs are heavy with emotion and life. The album was recorded in David Ivar's studio, Santa Cruz Records, in San Pedro, California. Center stage are David Ivar's songs, with his 1954 guitar, 1930s mandolin, and voice, along with exceptional guests: Julie Doiron, Mayon (Ivar's partner), Jolie Holland, and Kimya Dawson, who provide vocal counterpoint.
