After more than twenty years under contract with Atlantic Records – signed when Hayley Williams was still a teenager – Paramore announced in December 2023 that they were finally becoming an independent band. This new surprise collection marks their first self-produced release, published by Williams through her own label, Post Atlantic. These tracks are the singer’s third set of solo works. During the COVID period, she released two significant albums: Petals For Armor (2020) and Flowers for Vases (2021). These two dark and intimate records saw Williams explore themes of loss and grief, in contrast to the energy and rhythmic power that characterize Paramore. Critics praised her deeply introspective approach. Pitchfork described Petals as a work embodying both vulnerability and personal growth, revealing a more mature side of the artist. Regarding Flowers for Vases, the media highlighted the beauty of a voice that was at once raw, soft, dangerous, and warm, supported by a minimal production conceived as an artistic reset.
