In 2012, Grimes burst onto the scene with her third album 'Visions', a psychedelic collage of multiple musical influences. Becoming a true phenomenon thanks to her completely off-the-wall style and resolutely innovative music, the young Canadian became, in a few months, one of the most followed artists and most sought-after at festivals. So it's an understatement to say that her new album was (very) highly anticipated! Primarily recorded at her home in Los Angeles, 'Art Angels' was entirely written and recorded by Grimes, as is her custom. She plays piano, guitar, and violin on it, continuing her evolution as a musician and producer for her most ambitious album to date. And her most pop! Never one to shy away from experimentation, the young woman steps off the electronic beaten path she herself had charted until now and converts to much more pop sounds on these 14 new tracks. The first single 'Flesh without Blood', a true rock'n'roll odyssey oscillating between a colorful pop universe and a more dismal, gothic world, immediately sets the tone. The young woman brilliantly blends her eclectic influences without any limits for an uncompromising pop result. And the unexpected features by American soul singer Janelle Monáe on 'Venus Fly' or Taiwanese rapper Aristophanes on 'SCREAM' (which is reminiscent of M.I.A.'s heyday) will not indicate otherwise. Grimes's fourth album is coming soon and it once again commands admiration!
