With their instrumental pop centered around a prepared piano, the duo GRANDBROTHERS achieves the feat of captivating both the electronic scene (DIXON has made Bloodflow a classic in his sets) and fans of post-rock, Max Richter, or Nils Frahm. GRANDBROTHERS consists of German-Turkish pianist Erol Sarp and machine engineer Lucas Vogel. Sarp works on his ivory piano while Vogel samples live from behind his computer, playing with effects using their homemade devices that manipulate the piano strings. Vogel controls hammers that strike the piano strings, creating a beat, percussion. Their music could be described as "open-heart surgery on a grand piano." GRANDBROTHERS is above all a blend of piano, electronic music, and pop. A music that is both intellectual and literate, with the spontaneity and freshness of new explorers.
