Sky Is Too High

Description

The Sky Is Too High (1998) is Coxon's first solo album, including the single "I Wish." A lo-fi work of uncompromising honesty, this record marks a departure from his work with blur at the time, although it contains a world premiere already sketched out in his song "You're So Great," recorded a year earlier for blur's eponymous album. Written, recorded, and produced by Coxon, with original artwork by his own hand, the album was initially released on his own label, Transcopic. The Sky Is Too High and The Golden D are the first titles in a complete reissue of Coxon's entire solo catalog, comprising 9 studio albums and 2 soundtracks, which will be released over the next 12 months. An English musician, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and visual artist, Graham Coxon is one of the most innovative guitarists of his generation, and is best known as a founding member of blur. Coxon has also released eight solo albums and frequently composes for film and television. His passion for experimental and independent music helped shape the distinctive sound of blur during their heyday, marked by a string of number-one albums that propelled the band to immense popularity in the UK and internationally. This same boldness is found in his solo career, which explores genres as varied as folk, krautrock, and film scores.
