With *Shooting Star*, Edling changes course, leaving behind the creative solitude that characterized his previous album *Bananasugarfire* (2023) to embrace a decidedly collaborative process. Plagued by intimate doubts and artistic blocks, the musician nonetheless chose to trust his instincts, to surrender to inspiration, however unpredictable it might be. Each track thus becomes a way to exorcise his inner demons and celebrate small creative victories, in a series of songs that speak, precisely, of what it means to write songs. The result is a vibrant, free, and multifaceted album, woven with influences ranging from the mid-century folk of Michael Hurley or Karen Dalton to the indie pop of Yo La Tengo or Stereolab. Each track was conceived differently, in varied contexts, far from a single production scheme. A sound patchwork, enriched by numerous collaborations and finalized by mixer Matthew Schimelfenig, *Shooting Star* shines like a constellation of musical moments, personal reflections, and joyful eccentricities.
