Foxtrot

Foxtrot is the fourth studio album by the British progressive rock band Genesis. It was recorded in August 1972 in London at Island Studios and was released on the Charisma label on October 6, 1972. It consists of six tracks, one of which, "Supper's Ready", lasts nearly 23 minutes. The track "Watcher of the Skies" was released as a single in February 1973. The cover artwork was created by Paul Whitehead. He had already illustrated the two previous albums, "Trespass" and "Nursery Cryme". The fox-woman on the cover inspired Peter Gabriel, who brought the character to life on stage by putting on a red dress belonging to his wife Jill as well as a fox mask. In Great Britain, it was the band's first major success and reached number 12 on the charts. In France, the album is gold-certified (100,000 copies sold); while it helped establish Genesis in Europe, the same was not true in the United States, where it did not even appear on the Billboard chart.
