Gabriel Auguste is a French artist, singer-songwriter and producer, whose career lies at the crossroads of the international independent scene and a resolutely artisanal approach to music. He first made a name for himself in the United States with his band Wall of Death, with whom he recorded two albums and toured alongside The Black Angels, Brian Jonestown Massacre and Hanni El Khatib, forging a direct, physical and unfiltered relationship with the stage and sound. Back in France, he continued under his own name with a more introspective body of work, where writing and sonic texture take center stage. His first two solo records create a unique universe, somewhere between folk, experimental pop and organic electronic music, leading him to collaborate with Étienne Jaumet, Olivia Merilahti, Alain Chamfort and Dominique A. For Gabriel Auguste, production is never mere embellishment: it is an integral part of the narrative and emotion — it is a whole. His next album, Paradis Terrestre, expected in early 2026, marks a deliberate turning point. In a style he himself has dubbed "folk robot," the record explores immersive soundscapes where machines converse with acoustic instruments, in a quest for balance between warmth and depth. Conceived as both a mental space and a collection of songs, the album promises to be cinematic and pop, extending his taste for atmospheres and open forms. Co-founder of Woodland Records, Gabriel Auguste champions a global and independent vision of creation: writing, composing, recording and producing in one place, on a short circuit, letting time and listening guide the artistic gesture. Woodland Records is at once a studio, a label and a living workshop, a faithful reflection of his journey and his way of inhabiting music: free, demanding and embodied.
