In contrast to the artist's soft voice, born in the UK and based in New York, this sharp assessment of an intimate situation perfectly sets the tone for her third album. From the first to the last phrase, Big Picture shows that Fenne is seeking clarity in uncertainty, comfort in discomfort. A beautiful and striking portrait of Fenne's last two years, Big Picture was not easy to produce for its creator, but its content offers brilliant catharsis. Initially started hesitantly after a period of writer's block, the songs that make up her latest work were assembled during the pandemic, in an effort to find solace. Although its creation took place against a backdrop of personal and global turmoil, Big Picture, both thoughtful and candid, is Fenne's most coherent and resolute work to date, both in terms of lyrics and sound. Each track provides insight into Fenne's ever-changing view of love and, ultimately, her redefinition of it – love as a process, rather than something to lose and find. Firmly rooted in the present, Big Picture traces the story of two people doing their best not to implode, together.
