Felt is an 1980s pop band. It was founded in Birmingham in 1979 by Lawrence (singer and guitarist) and Maurice Deebank (guitarist), who left the band in 1986 to be replaced by organist/keyboardist Martin Duffy. Felt released their first album, Crumbling the Antiseptic Beauty, in 1981 on the Cherry Red label and had some success with the albums Ignite the Seven Cannons (1985) produced by Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins), the very pop Forever Breathes The Lonely Word (1986), and their last album, Me And A Monkey On The Moon (1989) produced by Adrian Borland, singer of The Sound. Originally, Felt's sound and compositions were quite obscure, almost cold wave. The band then evolved, turning towards much more pop and sometimes sixties-esque universes, due to the frequent use of the Hammond organ. The band broke up at the wish of their whimsical and strange leader, Lawrence, who wanted to release 10 albums in ten years. Here is their 2nd album released in 1984
