In the early 2000s, two rising stars of the independent hip-hop scene, Slug (Atmosphere/Rhymesayers) and Murs (Living Legends), teamed up as Felt to make music, have fun, and pay ironic tribute to an actress they deemed underrated. The two MCs found solace in stepping away from their individual work to share beats and rhymes, all with a bit of friendly defiance in their exchange. What started as a cathartic exercise quickly turned into a series of remarkable releases, as Murs and Slug periodically reunited to make new Felt records, teaming up with a different producer/friend each time, giving each album a unique character distinct from the last. After 'Felt 1: A Tribute to Christina Ricci' (2002, produced by The Grouch) and 'Felt 2: A Tribute to Lisa Bonet' (2005, produced by Ant), the duo returned in 2009 with 'Felt 3: A Tribute to Rosie Perez' produced by another indie hip-hop legend, Aesop Rock. While this third installment retains the same lightheartedness as the previous two, it is bolder, with the group tackling darker subjects, resulting in some of their best work with songs like "Permanent Standby", "Protagonists", "Bass For Your Truck", "Felt Chewed Up" and many more. Now, to celebrate its 10th anniversary, the album has been pressed on double vinyl, blue and white with a galaxy effect, and includes a bonus picture disc with a cutout featuring an exclusive remix (randomly selected vinyl depicting Slug, Murs, or Aesop Rock).
