Description

Eric Johanson is an American blues rock singer, guitarist, and songwriter. Johanson has played with Cyril Neville, Anders Osborne, the Neville Brothers, Terrance Simien, JJ Grey, Eric Lindell, Mike Zito, and at events such as the Chicago Blues Festival, the Edmonton Blues Festival, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and the Byron Bay Bluesfest (Australia). Barely 30 years old, Eric Johanson has already released 6 albums since 2017, all self-produced or on small labels. Through Ruf Records, he now has the opportunity to finally gain international recognition with this new album. Four of his albums have charted in the Top 10 of the Billboard "Top Blues Albums Chart." The accompanying bassist has notably played for Fred Wesley, and the drummer for Ani Di Franco, Warren Haynes, and Tab Benoit. After the release of "The Deep and the Dirty" in July 2023, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Blues chart, he returns with a "Live" album recorded in August 2024 at the Ground Zero Club in Biloxi. Five tracks are from the aforementioned last album. Eric Johanson is a roots-rock innovator and a modern guitar hero who uses the blues as a springboard for a bolder and broader sound. Offering everything from roadhouse roots-rock to dark, bluesy Americana, this is yet another diverse recording held together by a musician who has never been afraid of the gray area between traditional genres.
