Initially scheduled for release on 3/03 'The Songs of Bacharach & Costello' tells the whole story: Costello's early covers of Bacharach's songs, the album 'Painted From Memory', live performances from the 'Lonely World' tour, songs from 'Taken From Life', and finally 3 new unreleased recordings. Burt Bacharach is one of Elvis Costello's greatest influences. After recording a few covers of Bacharach's compositions, Costello finally had the chance to collaborate with him on the song 'God Give Me Strength' for the film 'Grace Of My Heart'. The artists continued their collaboration until the 1998 release of the album 'Painted From Memory', for which the song 'I Still Have The Other Girl' won a Grammy Award.
