Drab Majesty's first release for Dais Records was the cassette Unknown to the I in 2015, which featured the single of the same name that would appear on his debut album Careless that summer. The additional tracks "Saturn Inc." and "Ultra Violet" were previously only available digitally or as CD bonuses. Now, these songs are finally available on 12" in 45 RPM format, bringing all of Drab Majesty's creations from the Careless era (2012-2015) to vinyl, mastered by Josh Bonati with stunning packaging designed by Nathaniel Young. Drab Majesty is the project of Deb DeMure, the androgynous alter ego of musician Andrew Clinco and his partner, Mona D, based in L.A. It combines reverb-drenched guitars, synthesized bass lines, commanding vocals, and drum machine beats. This project stands in stark contrast to Andrew's previous performances as a drummer in Marriage and Black Mare. Described as tragic wave and mid-fi by Deb, Drab Majesty eloquently blends classic 80s new wave with touches reminiscent of the early days of 4AD in a futuristic originality. A talented multi-instrumentalist, Deb DeMure composes all the elements of Drab Majesty. However, rather than presenting these creations as the result of his personal work, he emphasizes the importance of inspiration that comes from a parallel world, humbly defining himself as a vessel through which all these outside ideas flow.
