The new EP by Drab Majesty marks the beginning of a captivating new chapter in the band's majestic legacy and features an evolving, psychedelic, and transcendent sound palette. Writing during a retreat in 2021 in the isolated coastal town of Yachats, Oregon, Deb Demure drew on the neo-psychedelic resonance of a 12-string Ovation acoustic/electric guitar. After morning hikes in the rain, Deb recorded ambient guitar experiences for the rest of the day, tapping into "flow states," allowing the sound to lead the way. These sessions were then refined or recreated, and elevated through collaboration with Rachel Goswell (Slowdive), Justin Meldal-Johnson (Beck, M83, Air), and Ben Greenberg (Uniform, Circular Ruin Studio). An Object In Motion lives up to its title, capturing the chrysalis moment of an artist who is evolving and rebirthing, unbound, a silhouette against an open horizon. Taken as a whole, the album presents a showcase of the potential futures of Drab's evolving domain, their sound ready to flourish on the brink of transformation.
