The first album by cellist and singer Dom la Nena, Ela is a surprising and subtle journey through childhood and nostalgia. The album’s 13 tracks feature Dom’s delicate voice and her cello, supported by the minimalist arrangements of co-producer Piers Faccini. On this album, one can find blends of piano, guitars, harmonium, kora, xylophones, choirs, as well as the inventive interventions of Dom’s cello. Dom La Nena draws her eclectic influences from Chico Buarque, Jobim, Novos Bahianos, Jorge Ben, Mercedes Sosa, Silvio Rodriguez, Athaualpa Yupanqui, and later Leonard Cohen, Cat Power, French music, tango and classical music.
