Paying tribute to this pioneer of French Rock whose career spanned more than five decades, this double vinyl offers a selection of Dick Rivers' greatest rock hits, sung in both French and English. The French tracks, some of which feature Les Chats Sauvages, are largely adaptations of legendary standards ("Quand les chats sont là" from Gene Vincent's "Dance to the Bop", "T'as seize ans demain" from Chuck Berry's "Sweet Little Sixteen", "Mais oui Baby" from Buddy Holly's "Maybe Baby", "Mon coeur tu remets ça" and "C'est moi l'King" from Fats Domino's "There Goes My Heart Again" and "I'm Walking", "Dame de coeur" from Elvis Costello's "Girls Talk"). Also included is the duet "Dans le rôle du Rock" with Francis Cabrel. The English tracks highlight Dick Rivers' undeniable power in this language, as well as his ease in tackling different genres (rock'n'roll, rockabilly, country...). Among these covers recorded from the 60s to the early 2000s are: "My Baby Left Me", "Whole Lotta Shakin" "Going On", "Twenty Flight Rock", "Reminiscing", "Not Fade Away", "I Got a Woman", "What'd I Say", "Baby Let's Play House", "Summertime Blues", "Good Golly Miss Molly", "Well Alright", "Mystery Train" and live versions of "Rip It Up" and "Keep A Knockin".
