While the Utopia World Tour, which followed the release of his album of the same name, is currently enjoying great success, David Byrne will release on 11/23 “The Complete True Stories Soundtrack,” the soundtrack to the film directed by the singer himself, “True Stories,” which will coincide with the restored release of his classic on DVD and Blu-ray from Criterion. This album will include the complete soundtrack, for the first time. In the film, originally released in 1986, Byrne drew inspiration from tabloid headlines to make this unique foray into feature filmmaking, an ode to the extraordinary ordinary American life and a synthesis of what was in his idiosyncratic mind. Byrne uses his songs to assemble pop iconography, voodoo rituals and a singular variety show, all in the service of discovering the rich mysteries that lie beneath the surface of everyday experience.
