A major revelation of 2020, Dana Gavanski delivers a second album that fulfills all its promises.
Halfway between introversion and extroversion, "When It Comes" is the record where Dana reveals herself the most. This Canadian-Serbian artist, who isn't afraid of extremes, harmoniously blends her love for 50s-70s music with mythology. Driven by the purest instinct, this new chapter is an ode to the voice as an instrument – to its power, to how the voice can, through words, strike a chord. "Words can be taken literally, but for me, most of the time, they are pivots. They point in one direction but don't necessarily stay there," she says.
Her new album was started in Montreal and then continued in Belgrade, and although it is expressive, with touches of yéyé, it also offers something more atmospheric and expansive.
