Recorded at the same time that C93 and I were channelling Swastikas For Noddy, *Imperium* was the counter-example to *Swastikas For Noddy*’s summery, sunlit (Locust) whistles. I was very ill whilst recording both discs, and my main memories (along with *Speed And Vodka* and *ThankYou, ThankYou*) were of lying ill on a grimy sofa in the now-vanished IPS Studios in Shepherd’s Bush. There was a big leak in the kitchen and the water ran across the studio floor, and over my worn leather jeans (with a button fly) and into My Very Soul. Remastered from the original tapes by The Bricoleur at Bladud Flies!, and with its original artwork re-imagined by Rob Hopeye, this 12” vinyl picture disc is packaged in a full-colour die-cut sleeve, printed both outside and inside. This is part of the second group of four re-issues of C93’s entire back catalogue on picture disc and standard vinyl, in preparation for the publication of my autobiography in late 2026. Alongside this I am working on many other recording, publishing and painting projects, as well as Watch And Pray!. Each re-issue in the vinyl picture disc series is limited to 1,000 copies, and the titles will not be re-issued on picture disc once sold out.—David Tibet, Hastings, 3 June 2025.
