Crimes of Passion

Description

Barely a year after their last album (Endless Flowers), noise pop duo Crocodiles are back with their fourth album, Crimes of Passion. Charles and Brandon have been making music together since they were 18. The duo has matured considerably since their beginnings in San Diego, and this is strongly reflected in their music. The two friends now divide their time between London and New York. The album is produced by Sune Rose Wagner, lead singer of The Raveonettes, which gives the band a new breath and sound. However, Duncan Mills' mixing ensures the continuity of their musical style, as he is collaborating with the band for the third consecutive time. The album opens with "I Like It In The Dark," perhaps their best track to date, an anthem to atheism, and closes with the moving "Un Chant d'Amour." With varied influences such as Soft Boys, Lou Reed in his Street Hassle period, Byrd Brothers, the Jackson 5, and Glen Branca, this album is probably the band's most accomplished to date.
