The electro artist has chosen to combine his signature, volatile, and surgical production with the introduction of his own emotionally charged voice. By challenging himself to imagine what a record would look like "if the Beach Boys took MDMA and made a rave album," Clark enlisted Thom Yorke as an executive producer, an ideal companion given his recent explorations in the world of immersive electronica. The album also features numerous passages that lean towards cinematic soundscapes, particularly with the unsettling distortion of Forest. However, unlike his EP Growl Garden, where the voices served a darker and more dystopian role, those present on Dolgoch Tape, for example, are much more reverent and tender, evoking the enchanting serenity of a Sufjan Stevens album. The voices are integrated as textures rather than highlighted as leads.
