L'Orchestre Philharmonique de Vienne, very familiar with Bruckner, has since a year, embarked on an ambitious cycle of performances of the works of the Austrian composer that will last until 2024, the year of his bicentennial. As part of this tribute, Sony Classical is proud to present the recording of Symphony No. 8 (Haas Edition), conducted by one of the few experts on Bruckner, Christian Thielemann, a long-time partner of the orchestra. This disc is the first in a series of recordings made at the Musikvereinsaal.
