Sony Classical releases BRUCKNER: SYMPHONY No. 2, the fourth installment of the complete cycle of symphonies by Anton Bruckner conducted by Christian Thielemann with the Vienna Philharmonic - the orchestra's first Bruckner cycle under a single conductor. The Vienna Philharmonic has premiered four of Bruckner's nine symphonies and has maintained a unique relationship with the music of the Austrian composer since 1873, when it gave the first performance of his Symphony No. 2. With the Vienna Philharmonic, Thielemann has approached the ideal sound of Bruckner as closely as possible: a full, warm sound, with countless colors, clear without being harsh. Thielemann's interpretations of Bruckner's music are based on a deep expertise and sympathy for the composer's music.
