L'album comprend les enregistrements du pianiste/compositeur, 4 préludes et une fugue, chacun suivis par une piste 'After Bach' écrite par Mehldau. L'album commence avec "Before Bach: Benediction" de Mehldau et se termine par "Prayer for Healing". Le projet est né d'une oeuvre que Brad a créée en 2015 - commandée par Carnegie Hall, le Conservatoire Royal de Musique, The National Concert Hall et Wigmore Hall - intitulée Three Pieces After Bach, que le Guardian désigne comme «A perfect balance between space and intensity». Une performance non accompagnée, partagée entre des récitals de plusieurs classiques de JS Bach, et des compositions et improvisations éblouissantes inspirées ces derniers.
