Melody Of Certain Damaged Lemons

Description

TO MARK THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE NEW YORK NOISE TRIO'S CULT ALBUM. Opening with a few synth notes, this fifth album by New York noise trio Blonde Redhead, released in 2000, accentuates the band's pop side, marking a major turning point in their discography. Accustomed to tense, noisy, and unsettling records, the listener is initially soothed by 'Melody Of Certain Damaged Lemons,' which offers a sweeter version of the band, exemplified by "Melodie Of Certain Three." Ultimately, some tracks stand out as true gems, such as the hypnotic "In Particular," the melodic "Hated Because Of Great Faults," and especially the unmissable "This Is Not," which, by replacing guitars with synths, offers an unprecedented version of Blonde Redhead. At times, the band's noisy roots reappear with the ultra-dissonant "Mother." While on its predecessor, 'In the Expressible Of The Inexpressible,' the intrusion of more cinematic elements enriched the band's universe, here Blonde Redhead seems to engage in a rather successful pop exercise, contrary to the tension and urgency of their early records. Reissue on 180g magenta pink vinyl for the twentieth anniversary.
