A singer both elusive and emblematic of one of the most important British bands of the last two decades, Beth Gibbons delivers a striking and sensational performance alongside maestro Penderecki. Beth Gibbons is the singer, songwriter, producer and co-founder (with Geoff Barrow and Adrian Utley) of the band Portishead as well as a solo artist. This album is Beth Gibbons' first recording since 2008.Henryk Górecki (1933 - 2010) was a Polish composer of contemporary classical music, considered the most commercially successful classical composer of recent decades.His first opus, the Third Symphony, known as the Symphony of Sorrowful Songs, sold over a million copies. Krzysztof Penderecki has been hailed as Poland's greatest living composer and conductor. His music reached a wider audience through films such as The Shining and The Exorcist.
