GIRLS IN PEACETIME WANT TO DANCE

Description

Belle & Sebastian Belle and Sebastian, named after a French TV series, is a Scottish band formed in a Glasgow nightclub in 1996 by Stuart Murdoch (singer, songwriter). Starting with a limited edition of 1000 copies of their first album, Tigermilk, the band has built a rich and varied body of work, album after album, becoming one of the finest examples of English pop of its time. Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance marks the Scottish band's grand return since the release of Write About Love in 2010. Produced and mixed by Ben H. Allen III (Gnarls Barkley, Animal Collective,...) and their long-time collaborator Tony Doogan, Stuart Murdoch's band here achieves the improbable feat of combining the youthful grace that made them almost iconic with up-tempo tracks featuring clearly assertive electro instrumentations. An album that largely holds its own on the dance floor and will undoubtedly surprise skeptics who judge them incapable of renewal.
