Arca releases her highly anticipated new album, XXXXX, via XL Recordings. After producing for Madonna, Addison Rae, Robyn, or Hikaru Utada and five years after KiCk i (nominated twice for the GRAMMY Awards) and the KICK pentology that followed, the musician, producer, singer, and multidisciplinary artist born in Venezuela returns with her first full-length album since the conclusion of one of the most ambitious chapters in contemporary music. While the KICK era allowed Arca's universe to expand outward, XXXXX turns inward and fragments it. Through 16 tracks, the album explores extremely varied emotional landscapes to deliver a darker, more aggressive, more experimental work that is resolutely resistant to any fixed form. Initially conceived as a mixtape before revealing itself as an album, XXXXX makes contradiction its fundamental methodology. In the spirit of her previous mixtapes @@@@@ (2020) and &&&&& (2013), XXXXX thrives in raw exploration and instinct. Arca continues the lifelong project of redefining what it means to be human, both within the machine and against it.
