Arca is a Venezuelan artist, DJ, composer, and producer who presents himself here as a singer on his new album and first on the XL label. In two albums and arrangements for Kanye West (Yeezus), Björk (Vulnicura), Kelela, and FKA twigs, Arca is undoubtedly one of the most influential producers in the electronic scene today.
Arca follows Xen, released in the fall of 2014, and Mutant the following year, both on the prestigious Mute label. The prolific Alejandro Ghersi, who hides behind this pseudonym, delivers his latest work, a personal experience made from a blend of emotions and states of the body, all interpreted for the first time, and in Spanish no less!
In a statement, he asserts: "Here is my voice and my guts: it's up to you to judge" and "It's like bullfighting; you are a spectator of emotional violence for pleasure. So it's a character who, almost mockingly, digs to the point of discomfort, to the point of self-mutilation. You want gore? Here is gore."
