In March 2009, the news of his death hit like a sledgehammer. When people leave, they are wrapped in superlatives meant to ease the journey. Alain was therefore described, throughout the obituary, as the "last of the greats." A year and a half later, listening to Osez Bashung, it appears that this expression was not overused. On the first CD, we stroll through the heart of his classics: From "La nuit je mens" to "Gaby," from "Joséphine" to "Bijou," from "Ma petite entreprise" to "Madame rêve," we dive back into these tracks, which at one time or another, were the soundtracks of our lives. We find ourselves fascinated by the intact evocative power of each of the lyrics, of each of the melodies. On the second disc, we confront Bashung's story with that of music. Alain throughout his life rubbed shoulders with his heroes, crossing swords with Gainsbourg, Ferré, Hendrix, Brel, Christophe, Dylan, Trénet, on covers that he dressed up from head to toe. A strange journey that from "L'homme à tête de chou" (for the first time on CD) to "Everybody's talkin'" lifts a corner of the curtain on the intimacy of a Bashung who was a music glutton.
