Habibi Funk is pleased to share a second collection of grooves and unreleased songs from the Algerian Ahmed Malek, often compared to the heavyweight Italian Ennio Morricone. Malek's music oscillates between thematic jazz, funk, reggae, and Algerian folk – creating indelible soundscapes that intersect with the musical innovations brought to African jazz by Mulatu Astatke, Bembeya Jazz National, as well as some of the best experimental composers in Europe like Piero Piccioni and Janko Nilovic.
As always, the vinyl and CD come with a comprehensive booklet presenting the context and interviews with Ahmed compiled from newspaper clippings and found news, also including unreleased photos, scans, and much more.
