Réédition LP of an essential album by the pioneers of French electro-dub! Through its history full of antagonisms, its ability to eternally rise from its darkness, its vital breath, Berlin has vampirized like few other cities the most cutting-edge musicians, whether they come from elsewhere (Lou Reed, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Brian Eno, U2...) or whether they grew up there (Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream, Ash Ra Tempel, Rhythm & Sound...). The city has also magnetized many filmmakers from all backgrounds (Murnau, Lang, Rossellini, Hitchcock, Wenders...) who have all at one time felt the need to rely on its architecture, its atmosphere, its soul. Walther Ruttmann was one of the very first to fully engage with the German capital. In 1927, "Berlin, Symphony of a Great City" was released, a quasi-documentary with a resolutely avant-garde editing that takes the pulse of a city drunk on its own vitality. Zenzile has therefore immersed itself in the exercise of the film concert, offering a new soundtrack to Ruttmann's film. But this time, freed from the dictatorship of narration, the Angers-based group felt comfortable enough with this new material to create an album that would emancipate itself from the images that gave birth to it.
