Manuel Gagneux returns with a brand new album from Zeal & Ardor titled 'Stranger Fruit'. Blending blues, gospel and soul with heavier music opened up a world of possibilities for Gagneux. After months of refining the tracks on 'Stranger Fruit', Gagneux entered the studio with producer Zebo Adam and mixer Kurt Ballou (Converge, Kvelertak, Nails). The diverse nature of the sixteen tracks on 'Stranger Fruit' is designed to encourage the listener to dig a little deeper and find their own meaning in his words. Unlike the first LP 'Devil Is Fine', these songs are deliberately intended to play out both lyrically and musically. Although the album inspires a sense of rage, its purpose is to unify, not divide, and to inspire action, not inertia. The elements of a sad melancholy are tempered by hope. On the surface, the album tells small, isolated stories, but there are also references to Goetia, Yoruba, literature, and history.
