Description

Zazou, zebra, zarzuela, Zappa, Zorn, Zardi, zeal, zero, zombie, zigzag, Zorglub, Zurlini, Zimmermann, zigouille, Zig et Puce, zen, zétète, Zuni, zizique... names starting with the letter z are not abundant (thus a good score in Scrabble) and inevitably carry a good dose of uniqueness, if not mystery. This is the only rule that Zarboth does not escape: The group was formed in 2007 during a workshop bringing together music school teachers. A connection is made between two of them: Étienne Gaillochet and Phil Reptil. After a small cordial at the nearest bistro, they head to the rehearsal studio. A track is born in the process ("Hear me there"). Within a few months, they record 8 tracks for a demo. The demo becomes their first album with Head records. Concerts follow, including a notable performance at the Zappanale festival in Western Pomerania (which also features We Insist!, another band that includes Étienne Gaillochet). In 2011, they get back to work with a few guests for a second album named after an Indian tribe living between Seattle and British Columbia, the Kwakiutls. Nosfell (vocals), Pierre le Bourgeois (cello), and Cyrille Méchin (baritone saxophone) are involved. The record is released by Muséa. Frequented in Maison Maquets, the Irish slam poet (but also trumpeter and illustrator) Macdara Smith is invited for this third album There's No Devils At All, it's Just the System: It is a meeting during a concert of ma Colère de D' de Kabal and Ill Chemistry in Argenteuil that somewhat determines the release of this record with Wan+Wan.
