Description

A major artist of French chanson for around twenty years, the author of a dozen studio or live albums and several thousand concerts, Yves Jamait wanted to pay tribute to Maxime Le Forestier. With “Maxime (Et Moi),” Yves Jamait revisits in a very elegant way 13 songs by one of the artists who has mattered most in his life as a man and as an artist: “I don’t know what kind of being I would be if I had not crossed paths with the work of Maxime Le Forestier... There is a phrase that says: ‘What we learn from others is only the blossoming of what is already within us.’ Well, before that encounter, what was inside me was so buried that I felt an abyssal, dizzying emptiness. Maxime Le Forestier’s songs brought forth something like a light. A tiny, faint light, it is the star I followed. I held on to it, and I called it ‘Hope.’ I wish for everyone to cross paths with their spark. This record is, for me, a way of saying thank you. And then, it does the child I once was good...
