The young virtuoso Yuja Wang performs two of the most demanding piano concertos. The very popular Piano Concerto No. 3 by Rachmaninoff and the Piano Concerto No. 2 by Prokofiev. Written barely three years apart, they present different perspectives. While Rachmaninoff celebrates the 19th-century tradition, Prokofiev already has one foot in the 20th century. Both are true technical challenges for the soloist. Recorded with the Simón Bolívar Orchestra under the baton of the phenomenal Gustavo Dudamel, this unique concert celebrated the 38th anniversary of the establishment of the El Sistema educational system in Venezuela. Yuja describes this experience with the Orchestra as "explosive but controlled and communicative."
